But many a times, if they are much engrossed in gaming, they tend to skip lunch and dinners and take aid of unhealthy stuff when hungry.

But, as per a recent research, it has been confirmed that the children who play online games that involve good food and things related to food tend to indulge in an increased intake of calories than any other games. The researchers also found that when there are any food related ads flashing during the games, children showed more interest in eating sweet and candies than normal. They tried to eat more by getting inspired by the games without even knowing about the same.

According to the survey, once in a week the children were made to play internet games. Two-thirds of those who played games involving food were drawing more attention towards the food related things and talks. Many a times, ads related to snacks and candy are on display while playing a game. However, only a handful of children are aware that these advergames are actually advertisement and not actual games. Other than the food, a game tends to affect their behavior as well, say researchers from the Radboud University. The tests were continuously performed on the children. They found that the hidden online food advertisements had affected more than 10,000 children who were subjects of their test.

When a child views normal ads on the television, the commercials are not too enticing. Other than this, they tend to set a limit on the viewers against the temptations as the ads are always mixed with other content. Other than the game, the websites which are related to foods also contain some game. These sites also allow the children to share them with their peers. The research also opened various other facts about the link between food and gaming. They say that the children are so engrossed in games that they hardly realize that it is actually an advertisement. The brand names and logo are big enough on the screen to be visible. Even then, all they can see is the competition and their opponents. After the gaming session, when the children were sent for lunch or dinner, it was observed that they indulged in 72 extra calories than what they usually eat on normal days. Thus, it helped children get the necessary nutrition their bodies demand.

However, a researcher named Folkvord said that there was no major change in the BMI after two years if they are eating extra candies today. Thus, choosing the right snack also has much to do with a healthy body. The children who were taking help of candies and cakes to satisfy their hunger pangs will not have a proper and healthy body after a couple of years. However, those who took help of healthy food like apples found much improvement in their body years later. Those who took help of healthier food were actually trained to do so. Other than this, children who are already overweight saw a great improvement in their bodies in terms of BMI and overall weight.
