The ASUS ZenWatch launched at the IFA this year is considered the now chick and stylish best-looking watch among all other Android Wear watches available in the market. Though not round, it still looks good thus enchanting onlookers. With not even completing three months of time with the Asus ZenWatch launch in the market, the Taiwanese giant is ahead working on its second-generation ZenWatch touted to have voice calling support.
But there’s nothing for the new buyers to worry about as the ZenWatch’s next version is slated to be launched only by next year third quarter.
As reported by FocusTaiwan, Jerry Shen – ASUS’ CEO at the launch event of ZenWatch in Taiwan said that the firm is already in works to get the next generation ZenWatch ready that is for now termed as ZenWatch 2. The second-generation model slated to be launched in the third-quarter of next year is said to feature voice calling capabilities. Current trend of Android Wear watches come with microphones but with no speakers making them unable to support phone calls. So the next-gen ASUS ZenWatch is for sure to compete with its rivals like Samsung Gear S and many more.
According to Shen, the Asus ZenWatch 2 is to support functionality like independent voice-calling as like Samsung Gear S smartwatch. The watch is also to support a SIM-card for making calls. Expectation is that either a prototype or an early version of the ZenWatch 2 to make its presence in the upcoming CES 2015 to be held in Las Vegas or at MWC 2015 which is to be held late in the year in Barcelona.
Along with the report of the new ASUS ZenWatch 2, also comes information with regards to ASUS working on two more wearables which are also to be launched next year. Additionally, few new teasers of the company’s upcoming next generation ZenFone handsets were also released.\
ASUS Upcoming Wearable Devices:
The wearable devices that ASUS is working on is claimed to be well focused on the health and fitness of its users that are to be launched next year as well. Not only this, as indicated by Focus Taiwan these fitness and health related devices from ASUS are to be priced low than the ASUS ZenWatch 2. Features of these fitness-focused wearables include the usual tracking activity along with the ability to check blood sugar levels and many more. ASUS with these wrist-mounted wearables is to strongly compete with its competitors next year. So it is clear that we can expect something big at a reasonable and affordable price reach us next year.
The original ZenWatch that got launched in Taiwan is priced TWD 5,990 (about Rs. 12,000). Shen also mentioned that the ASUS smartwatch would reach out to certain European markets along with Hong Kong and China markets in the second phase of the year, while India might be getting it around October 2015 with a price tag of Rs. 15,000. The initial ZenWatch is made available only in limited quantities and is expected to remain the same until next year February.
ASUS plans for 2015 in the field of wearable technology seems to be interesting. The ZenWatch looks much better than the G Watch R and Moto 360 (believe many would admit on this). With tough competition going on in the wearable market it is necessary for the firm to release its products with new innovative features accordingly emphasizing on developing nice-looking hardware.
