Google just launched the ultimate video calling app that falls in line with FaceTime, WhatsApp and Skype. Google feels that video calling is the next best thing to being with someone in person. I totally agree. Its very frustrating as my mother does not use the same type of device as I am and its difficult for her to catch a glimpse of her grand daughter all the time. This is the main reason I keep myself away from enjoying the fruits of video calling. For users like me, who wonder if the call will connect or having to retort to Facebook’s calling feature this new app from Google called the Duo is a relief.
This new Google Duo app is available for Android and iOS as well. Google has stated in its official blog post that, Duo takes the complexity out of video calling, so that you can be together in the moment wherever you are.
Highlights of Google Duo
All you need is a phone number to get going. You can reach people in your phone’s contact list. You need not have to create a separate account, so there are no hassles and so with that you can instantly begin a video call with your favourite people in a single tap.
Google Duo video calls will connect faster than other video calling apps and will also work on slower networks. It is tuned to adjust the resolution when the bandwidth is limited for an on-going call so that the call quality isn’t compromised.
Duo can also switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data without dropping the call.
Duo’s Knock Knock feature lets you see live videos of who is calling you before you take the call. This according to Google gives the user at the other end a sense of what they’re up to. This seems to make it more spontaneous and welcoming before you choose to connect with the caller.
Duo calls are all end-to-end encrypted just like Facebook and WhatsApp.
