The South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai is to launch its new Blue Link Smartwatch app at today’s “Consumer Electronics Show 2015″. This new app is to allow car owners start their cars remotely with just a tap on their wrist screen.

This free Blue Link app has to be downloaded on the users Android smartwatch and smartphone. Once downloaded both the smartwatch and the smartphone have to be paired with the app for it to start working.  The app can work either through touch or voice commands.

Hyundai owners with the app can remotely start and stop their cars, lock and unlock doors, and also can easily find their car in a crowded parking lot.

The app is said to work with every Hyundai i.e. with all first-gen and second-gen Blue Link equipped models of Hyundai. Few examples include 2015 Genesis, Azera and Sonata, 2012 Sonata and also the upcoming Veloster and Elantra GT. This smartwatch app when linked with any Android phone via Bluetooth works.

Hyundai’s users with this app would also be able to honk the horn, flash the lights and call for roadside assistance as well as the Blue Link services. The app can be opted for voice function by just selecting or tapping the microphone icon available on the smartwatch. Once the voice function is activated, the driver can execute commands like “start the car”, “stop the car”, “lock the car” or “find my car”.

The Blue Link app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play store which according to the company is to be available during sometime in the first quarter of 2015. Hyundai representatives are to demonstrate the Blue Link smartwatch app on smartwatches of Motorola, LG, Sony and Samsung make.

The wearer to operate the app remotely with touch feature has to just tap on the respective icons and for voice function can simple speak out commands.

Hyundai has developed this Blue Link smartwatch app partnering with Station Digital Media. According to Hyundai Motor America’s Barry Ratzlaff, with this new app Hyundai is to investigate of how Blue Link and wearable technology fit together into user’s lifestyle.

Precise of Blue Link Smartwatch features:

  • Can execute both touch and voice commands.
  • Can start the car engine remotely
  • Can stop the car engine remotely, provided the car is in remote engine start mode.
  • Can lock and unlock door remotely.
  • Can flash on lights remotely.
  • Can honk the horn remotely.
  • Can locate the user’s car.
  • Can call for Roadside assistance.
  • Can call Blue Link Service.
