Maxx Mobile, the domestic handset maker in want to expand its portfolio would soon launch 17 new handsets. It would be 9 smartphones and 8 feature phones released by Maxx Mobile over the next few weeks where it would not be something new by the company as it has already done similarly earlier where in August 2013 it launched 15 gadgets and in January 2014 launched 26 devices.
The smartphones and feature phones will be priced between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 6,000 with this the company aims to garner revenue of Rs 3,600 crore where the company’s 2013-14 fiscal year revenue stood at Rs. 600 crore.
Ajjay Agarwal, Managing Director and Chairman of Maxx Mobile, revealed that these devices were mainly developed focusing on budget smartphones. These handsets target two segments, first-time Smartphone buyers and budget conscious Smartphone users.
Smartphones ranging from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,500 is mainly for the people who want to upgrade their feature phones with a Smartphone. Meanwhile Smart phones ranging from Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 6,000 is to target value conscious smartphone users who want to upgrade their smartphones with a better technology at an affordable price.
With this Maxx Mobile also launches an Android-based Smartphone at low cost, just priced for Rs 2,000 will be one of India’s most affordable Android Smartphone. When deep thinking this might raise few questions on its performance but considering Celkon that managed an Android KitKat for Rs. 2999, this can also make it.
Smartphones can be bought through e-commerce channels and trade while certain models would be sold only through specific shopping websites and with regards to Feature phones it will be trade channels selling them.
The Maxx GenxDroid7 AX356, recent Maxx Mobile’s launch priced Rs. 3,696 in India comes as a dual-SIM (GSM+WCDMA) Smartphone with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The budget Android Smartphone comes with a display that is 3.5-inch along with a HVGA resolution that is 320×480 pixels. Dual-core MediaTek MT6572M processor powers the Smartphone that also comes with 512MB RAM. However the company has also promised for an Android 4.4 KitKat release without mentioning any timeline.
Maxx Mobile can be considered doing this in order to meet the market competition before the release of Google’s very first Android One Smartphone in October. Google along with domestic manufacturers like Karbonn, Micromax, Intex and Spice has planned to launch the Android One devices where the first to be would be Micromax priced $100 that comes with dual Sim capabilities , a 4.5 inch display, mediates processor, integrated FM Radio and extended memory.
