Windows 10 has been receiving a warm welcome from people all across the globe, and as a part of Microsoft’s initiative to make the new operating system available on all possible devices, we have been seeing many companies coming up with new Windows 10 devices. But Videocon has gone one step ahead, and in partnership with Microsoft, they have launched what they call the world’s first Windows 10 powered LED TV. Yes, you heard it right! Windows 10 is making itself available across platforms, not just Laptops, PCs, Tablets and Smart phones, but also into your drawing rooms through Windows 10 powered LED TVs.
Videocon has launched two variants of the Windows 10 powered LED TVs. The 32-inch model is priced at Rs.39990, and the 40-inch model is priced at Rs.52990. Both the variants will be made available in the market by next month. These TVs can also work as personal computers, and the company describes them by the tag line, ‘one touch PC, one touch TV’. These Windows 10 televisions come equipped with Microsoft Office, access to the Windows store, and many preinstalled apps. Akshay Dhoot, Head of Technology and Innovation, Videocon, calls them the world’s first Hybrid TV cum PCs. “In these changing times, we realised the needs of our consumers of having easy access to technology at their convenience and therefore designed the world’s first hybrid TV cum PC,” said Mr. Dhoot.
Videocon, for the coming year, expects 5 percent of its sales to come from the sale of the Windows 10 TVs, and at least 3 percent to come from the sale of Android TVs. In this initial phase, the company is rolling out Windows 10 TVs only on 32 inch and 40 inch size models which are the most popular sizes in the consumer segment. Depending upon the response from the people, Videocon has plans to widen its Windows 10 TV portfolio to other sizes too. If the markets welcome these products well, you would soon see 55, 65, and 24 inch variants too from Videocon. Those variants can be expected to be in the markets by the end of this year.
The new Windows 10 TVs will be introduced into around 60 stores located in the upmarket areas, and later on will be made available in other areas in a phase wise manner. Videocon currently has a network of more than 55000 pin of sales, and is one of the leading players in the electronics industry in India. Windows 10 has been receiving a good response from people across the globe and has seen more than 110 million downloads since it was released. The Windows 10 LED TVs will come with full HD display, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card slot, inbuilt Wi-Fi, MHL and HDMI ports. The new innovative product will extend the Windows 10 experience to more users. The hardware specs of the TV should give a descent performance as Windows 10 is a lighter OS. Let’s hope more manufacturers toe the line!
