Microsoft previously, in collaboration with Micromax, launched two Windows based smartphones – the Canvas Win W121 and the Canvas Win W092. Karbonn and Xolo also went ahead and launched Windows-based smartphones in collaboration with Microsoft.

It looks like things are changing in the Microsoft camp, and Micromax has now decided to stop manufacturing these smartphones. Micromax has now given up on manufacturing the Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 smartphones. The Win W121 and Win W092 were very popular smartphones in the Indian market.

Micromax unveiled the smartphones in India in direct competition to Nokia before the acquisition by Microsoft. The smartphones included latest features and was also competing with Android smartphones.

The two smartphones (W121/W092) had the best specification at the time. The reason why Microsoft collaborated with Micromax was because of its popularity. Micromax was providing the latest specifications at very affordable price. These specifications were not available on Windows-based Nokia smartphones.

Micromax has now discontinued manufacturing Windows-based smartphones. We are hearing rumors that the company soon plans to launch new Windows OS-based smartphones in Indian. The smartphones are still available with many online retailers. If you are a Windows OS fanatic, then you should buy the smartphones while stocks last.
