Panasonic on Wednesday at an event in Delhi officially revealed its new Eluga U Smartphone that would be available in India from the first week of August priced at Rs. 18,990 thus openly competing with Xiaomi Mi 3 and Micromax Canvas Knight which are available in the same price range.
Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box this Panasonic Eluga U will be available with some customizations in terms of the home screen and also it is reported that this Smartphone would be available with some of the company developed apps that comes pre-loaded with the handset. This is a dual Micro SIM Smartphone that promises of 2G and 3G support along with connectivity Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and Wi-Fi, GPS / A-GPS and Bluetooth 4.0
Eluga U sports an IPS OGS display of 5-inch with 720×1280 pixels resolution.This Panasonic Smartphone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz coupled along with 2GB RAM. It possesses an autofocus 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a front-facing camera of 2-megapixel resolution which is otherwise is nowadays standard. The built-in storage capacity of the Smartphone is 16GB that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
The battery life is promised to be 2500 mAh Li-ion where the unit along with other specifications sounds to be great. Looking at the pattern there is nothing different as it mostly resembles the Google Nexus 4. The Smartphone is said to weigh 141 grams with the measurement being 141.5×71.3×7.95mm.
The invites sent by the company on Tuesday for its Wednesday’s launch program had tagline mentioned as ‘Elegance for a new generation’ thus giving a brief of the Eluga series.
It can be noted that Panasonic first introduced series of Eluga smartphones in 2012 that were later discontinued and it then had Eluga DL1 and Eluga Power launched for the European market.
Also earlier this month in the Indian market, Panasonic launched three dual-SIM smart phones, Panasonic P61, Panasonic P41 and Panasonic T41 all of which run on an Android 4.4.2 KitKat. These smart phones are available in the Indian market powered with a 1.3GHz unspecified quad-core processor at the cost of Rs. 14,990, Rs. 11,990 and Rs. 7,990 respectively.
Panasonic P61 features an IPS display of 6-inch with 720×1280 pixels HD resolution. While Panasonic P41 comes with IPS display of 5-inch along with 540×960 pixels HD resolution. Last but not the least the Panasonic T41 comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display with 480×854 pixels FWVGA resolution.
So with lot Smartphones already in the Indian market and lot more to come in near future, customers have wide range of options opened up for them to decide before they could get one.
