Internet surfers who started out in the early years of this millennium will know how StumbleUpon has always been a trusty, convenient medium for discovering the most exciting nooks of the world wide web which was only in its formative years. Established in 2002 – at the point of time before social networks cropped up and even before the identically themed Digg, Reddit and Tumblr were born, StumbleUpon was where most people on the internet spent their day finding the treasures of the internet.Though the site has been evolving with the passing years, it’s the newbies that have been grabbing all the attention in the recent past.
But now it looks like the plates are about to be turned with the latest information that this old buddy is getting revamped for the iOS platform. Get ready to usher in the new StumbleUpon iOS app with its intriguing new design
What’s new with the latest iOS update?
To start with, its the all new UI (user interface) layout that will catch your attention – designed to be a hybrid between a chat-room and a content discovery medium. In all these years, StumbleUpon has let users tell their friends what they’re looking at through social-network plug-ins and its very own StumbleThru medium it appended in 2007 onto other webpages or through a copy-pasted link sent via text message. But now with the new ‘Share’ feature, you can simply show everyone what you discover and have discussions on what your friends shared – all while you’re inside the app itself.
You can also see a new menu with quick links to your story picks, interests and followers (Stumblers). The Navigation Menu lets you save a page you want to come back to later and also organize your finds into themes.
The Social Activity Center is where you’ll find what your friends have shared and it might remind you of Facebook News Feed.
StumbleUpon brings you over 500 Interest Categories to get your fix of the best stuff based on your interests.
