DigiLocker is a website and to get access to it, all you have to do is to sign up with your Adhaar card number. Now you will get an SMS in the mobile number that you had given at the enrolment camp. Adhaar card number is the only way to get access to the DigiLocker for the first time. Later on you may change it and have a password of your preference.

After you login to this website, you can upload the important government documents you possess to the DigiLocker. The main purpose of this devise is to reduce the need to carry physical documents to all places. For example, when you apply for your pass port, if your birth certificate, college and school certificates are in the DigiLocker, the officials in the passport office can check these details by using your Adhaar card number and accessing the DigiLocker.     Although it is a good initiative, I think we need a more safe platform. Government sites are always prone to hacking…
